Costing - Canada
|
| |
Student Fees in Canada |
| |
The cost of living incurred is different for different students. It depends on a student's lifestyle, the course/program he pursues, his needs, attitude and capacity to budget and work things out. These factors are subjective and pertain mainly to the student and his attitude.
Tuition fees have an imposing effect on a student's cost of living in Canada. The tuition fees for undergraduate programs incur average yearly cost that ranges from $4000-$17,000. Undergraduate certificate courses and diplomas incur a little lesser costs than degree programs. Students pursuing postgraduate programs are required to pay tuition fees that range from $4500-$20,000 a year. Tuition for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Canada varies with the province, university and course/program chosen.
Some Canadian universities require students to pay extra fees for lab work, library resources, student club memberships and facilities for sports and recreation. Besides, students ought to buy books, reference material and stationery. Fees are incurred on applications and enrollments. All these add up to a student's cost of living.
Accommodation Cost in Canada
Accommodation costs are an important determinant of a student's cost of living in Canada. Costs incurred on the accommodation depend entirely on the type of accommodation chosen by the student. University or on-campus accommodations incur a yearly cost of about 3000-7000$. Share accommodation is a great way of saving up some money. This type of accommodation incurs a weekly cost of 200-700$. Other types of accommodation incur more or less the same costs as share accommodation.
Other factors like utilities, transport, telephone, transport, groceries, clothes, letters, recreation, sport etc. make a small but substantial contribution to the cost of living in Canada.
Students can bring their cost of living under control through two tools: budget and work. Budgeting of costs involves extensive planning and prioritizing. This can be extremely useful tool in controlling a person's cost of living. Students can take up on-campus jobs to fund their upscale lifestyle and curb their cost of living.
